چکیده

Vegetation cover is an important factor controlling erosion and sediment yield. Therefore, its effect accounted for in both experimental modelling studies of Numerous have been conducted to account the effects vegetation on across spatial scales; however, little has temporal scales. This study investigates changes multiple scales Eastern Cape, South Africa how this affects yield Tsitsa River catchment. Earth observation analysis are integrated within study. Landsat 8 imagery was processed, Normalised Difference Index (NDVI) values were extracted applied parameterise Modified Universal Soil Loss Equation (MUSLE) (C) factor. Imagery data from 2013–2018 analysed inter-annual trend based reference summer (March) images, while monthly years 2016–2017 intra-annual trends. The results indicate that C exhibits more variation timescale than yearly timescale. using a single month represent annual increases uncertainty. shows accounting variations reduces cumulative simulated by up 85% 30% scale. Validation with observed confirmed brought outputs closer observations. Over-simulations high late autumn early summer, when estimated high. Accordingly, uncertainties winter low NDVI leads C, whereas dry organic matter provides some protection erosion. highlight need estimation but associated estimate

monitoring of vegetation cover change in helen forested protected area and its causes based on bi-temporal analysis of ndvi

this paper aims to detect occurred changes in vegetation cover of forested helen protected area using extracted ndvis from bi-temporal multispectral images of landsat tm. to do so, at first forest areas with low and moderate density cover were identified and separated on land use map. then preprocessing applications including radiometric corrections were done on both 1990 and 2009 images. also ...

Responses of Sediment Yield to Vegetation Cover Changes in the Poyang Lake Drainage Area, China

Ascertaining the relationships between sediment transport processes and vegetation cover is essential for watershed soil and water conservation. However, it is not easy to realize this target on a large scale. In this study, the location-weighted landscape contrast index (LCI) based on the “source-sink” theory of ecological processes was introduced to unravel the response of sediment yield to v...

Vegetation and wildfire controls on sediment yield in bedrock landscapes

[1] Steep, rocky landscapes commonly exhibit high sediment yields and are especially sensitive to climate, tectonics, and wildfire. Predicting landscape response to these perturbations demands a quantitative understanding of erosion processes. However, existing models for hillslope sediment production and transport do not apply to landscapes with patchy soil and slopes that exceed the angle for...

Evaluation of Spatiotemporal Variations of Global Fractional Vegetation Cover Based on GIMMS NDVI Data from 1982 to 2011

Fractional vegetation cover (FVC) is an important biophysical parameter of terrestrial ecosystems. Variation of FVC is a major problem in research fields related to remote sensing applications. In this study, the global FVC from 1982 to 2011 was estimated by GIMMS NDVI data, USGS global land cover characteristics data and HWSD soil type data with a modified dimidiate pixel model, which consider...
